About the Designer

Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Nadia always dreamed of owning her own business. Her parents tasked her with getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Business before she could focus on her passion. So, Nadia studied at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), pursuing a Bachelor‘s Degree in Business Marketing and Small Business Management. She chose to focus on Marketing, specifically Advertising, because she always enjoyed event planning. At CSUB, Nadia planned numerous events for clubs, organizations, student government, and the campus as a whole. She found advertising to be vital because it could make or break an event’s success. It sold the event to students on campus. She soon connected her passion for advertising with fashion as she noticed a link between the two. She always dressed up for classes on campus, events, and even weekend lounge days. She wore earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets elegantly. She was advertising herself to her peers. Clothing speaks louder than words. People judge quickly and a person’s social “success” can depend on fashion. Although this may not be ideal and we all hope to not judge a person based on clothing, it often happens. Nadia wanted to take her advertising skills and love for fashion to a new level. She wanted to build a brand focused on making people feel their best.

After graduating from CSUB, Nadia decided to take a leap of faith and attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) to gain the skills to design clothing for empowering everyone. During her one year program at FIDM, she gained a highly skilled set of knowledge in preproduction, apparel processes, sourcing, technical design, fit sessions, and digital Adobe software. She sparked a new found interest in the importance of sustainability as she was tasked with creating a sustainable piece for a fashion show in Sausalito, California. She gathered six used, donated clothing pieces from second-hand stores and deconstructed these garments to have a clean palette to begin to design her sustainable runway gown. This creative process opened the eyes of the community and the designers in the fashion show. After graduating as the Class of 2020’s Valedictorian from FIDM, Nadia is now ready to embark on a journey of finding the perfect, empowering outfit for any and everyone.
